PERSONAL TRAINING
Personal trainers are exercise coaches who help maximize your time by providing programs that meet your goals efficiently. Scheduling regular appointments helps eliminate excuses. You’ll be accountable to another person for your exercise time. You might enjoy supervision two to three times each week. Or you may feel confident exercising independently and decide to meet with me less frequently to update your program and evaluate your progress.
Hiring a personal trainer to help you start a fitness regimen is a good investment in your health. Few other investments result in improved health and quality of life. Trainers can teach you the correct way to use exercise equipment, design individualized training programs for losing excess weight, adding lean muscle and meeting other fitness goals. They help motivate you to incorporate exercise into your daily schedule.

WHAT IS CORRECTIVE EXERCISE?
It is a form of conditioning that focuses on strengthening and re-training muscles in the body to work together efficiently.
Do you like gardening, playing golf or tennis? Are you are an active person who enjoys walking, bike riding, and performing daily chores with ease? Corrective exercise can help restore range of motion and re-build strength and endurance to re-establish neuromuscular control. Proper bio-mechanics of movement can retrain muscles to work together efficiently. Corrective exercise creates balance in the muscles through stabilization and strengthening exercises.
Corrective exercise techniques have developed through the work and influence of innovators such as Joseph Pilates (1883-1967) who developed a system of exercise designed to help bedridden patients exercise with resistance. He used the hospital bed itself as the foundation for the equipment he designed using springs from the beds. Back to top
What is Pilates?
Pilates is remarkably effective for a wide range of people. It is ideal for every body type, level of fitness, and age. It’s an exercise system that develops core strength as it dynamically works to stretch and activate muscles, restoring the body’s natural grace, power, and balance.
The foundation of Pilates exercises is to not only develop core strength, but even more importantly, develop awareness and understanding of how to engage and work the deep muscles of the core. Core muscles are the deep, internal muscles of the abdomen and back. When these muscles are balanced, support for the spine is maximized and overall movement becomes more integrated and efficient. Pilates works to re-educate the muscles of the body which improves flexibility, mobility, and strength.
Pilates exercises are performed on a mat or on special equipment. The equipment has springs and straps that create resistance from the participant’s own body weight. The mat work creates resistance within the body for the similar effects. Mat work sometimes includes props such as bands, toning balls or circles.
The emphasis of Pilates is quality over quantity. It’s not about the repetitions, it’s about precision. Doing each exercise with complete attention to how, not how many, yields significant results in a remarkably short period of time.
Because Pilates exercise requires focus, the mind has to be engaged along with the body. Every exercise is performed with coordinated breathing, attention to form, and efficient movement patterns. The exercises are safe, low impact, and appropriate for every level of fitness and every age. The result is a body that works better, plays better, and feels better. Back to top
